Hi all,

This is an email I've hesitated to write for the past few months but I'm
afraid it has become unavoidable.

Background story:
Since I became too sick to go to work, my company pulled the rug on me
and de facto fired me (as in, my boss won't admit that he fired me but
basically already locked me out of the workplace) at the time I joined
the union. There will be a pending litigation soon and I shall be served
justice. But since 2026-02-26, I have had no income. My company screwed
me so hard that they made me ineligible for all kinds of safety net.
They cut my health insurance. I also could not collect unemployment
benefits in this case. I also injured my right foot (the driving foot,
as Americans say) in April and for the first time in my life I rode an
ambulance (the ambulance ride is free but the treatment is not). And
finally, my bank account balance will become zero some day in August.
This is why I'm writing this email.

Plan to get through the financial crisis:
It's not easy to treat depression (among other things) and no one knows
when I can go back to work. For the past 3 months I've been going to the
doctor's and telling her "I don't feel better". I've been asking my
family for some support (although not enough), as a result, I'm now in
China living with my parents this month to save a little money and
recover (I've never been away from my servers for this long). Before I
find a new job, I plan to work a minimum wage job first to solve the
financial crisis (there is an Amazon warehouse near where I live), but
for now my doctor wouldn't clear me for work, not even 20 hours per
week. Even then, working a minimum wage job in Tokyo for 40 hours per
week can only support my minimum needs to live, not including the
running costs of the servers. With the ongoing US-Iran war, the fuel
price skyrocketed, also did the power bill (even though the electricity
is suppose to be "net-zero" or "green power" according to the
electricity company??). That's why I have no choice but turn to you all
for help.

In March 2024 I started to provide cfarm420..422, then expanding to
cfarm440 over the years. While I also host for other projects and myself
(like my mail server), in the spirits of maximizing resource utilization
and efficiency, there is no computing resources dedicated to cfarm
(except for cfarm423, a special case). I believe in "sharing is caring",
which also happened to be the underlying principle of free software
movement. Please help me host cfarm420..440 for many years to come.

For reference, my power bills this year (2026):
Jan: 1362 kWh 45787 yen (USD$287)
Feb: 1883 kWh 54716 yen (USD$342)
Mar: 1707 kWh 49851 yen (USD$312)
Apr: 2024 kWh 65449 yen (USD$409)
May: ? (should be more than Apr because of the increasing use of air
conditioning)

The fundraising goal is set to be USD$3000 or 480,000 yen. It should get
me through the end of the year. By that time, "hopefully" I will get to
a better place.
