Hi all,

There will be a temporary shutdown for cfarm420..422,430..440 from Jul 6
(ish) to Aug 25 (ish). Please plan your testing and move your data
accordingly. cfarm423..429 will be online as usual, so you can move data
there temporarily. Inside the LAN pretty much everything is 10Gbps. You
are not supposed to store important data, but if you did anyway, it's
time for you to move them.

A few reasons are behind this shutdown. During this time I'll be away
from home, abroad again, and I feel unsafe to leave these many servers
up. We had 3 (small~medium level) earthquakes and 2 typhoons in a row in
Tokyo last Friday, when I just realized the server rack is not disaster
proofed. The rack is at risk of tipping over in a large earthquake
(defined as level 5+). The work to make it earthquake proofed is
ongoing. On the other hand, I saw on the news that France is hot as hell
and I imagine Tokyo will be melting hot too once the rainy season ends.
I feel that this shutdown will be good for the hardware in general so
they last longer, and my home won't burn down, etc. during my time away.

cfarm433..440 (the Talos II board) are not stable either. Sometimes the
HBA overheats and the PCIe link resets itself under heavy I/O, causing
CPU lockups (once I thought it was CPU's fault). This never happened
before this summer. I'll have to find a way to cool down the HBA.
cfarm439,440 have their own problems too and I'm still working on it,
but maybe not so fast.

Let's hope we all survive this summer and maybe come back better and
stronger.

Cheers,
