That's good to know, it's a minor change to adapt the build scripts.  They
currently got confused because they saw that the Solaris tools were installed
but the install directories were empty, fell back to gcc/clang, and then found
that the required matching linker options didn't work (I enable as many
compile-time security-related options as possible but some of them need a
linker and/or libs that also know about them).  So it's a case of not only
feeding info from the compile phase down to the link phase but also from the
link phase up to the compile phase.
