OK, here's the gnoss:
Wow, well
the real problem is to put those machines back online. They're in
storage from some years now, I don't even know if they can go back to
work again without fixing something.
Also, at the museum right now we're working to clean the space for
reopening to visitors :) this time we will be more focused in the
"hacklab / restoration" part instead of a simple exhibition: we don't
have much space, so it's better to transform our activities more into
an "hacklab" perspective (a big lab with restoration in progress etc)
instead of only having computers to show.
We are now at a good point - but to put those machines back online
will be a huge task and IDK when I can do it (I'm basically alone,
it's me and Nignux those days, and it's COOOOLD there! :)
the electricity bill I don't know but consider it will be about 120 -
150 Eur every two months, I suppose. Must test and try.
But again, the biggest problem now is to put the machines back online.
IDK when can we do it - not SOON but I'm really considering it!
So... I will work for this - need to allocate some space for the
hardware, connect it somehow to our network, and put it in working
order :)
I will let you know ASAP about this :)
PS the two VAXes are now "emulated" by an online computer managed by
Katolaz in England, so they're not here at my lab anymore: to many
power outages and related problems. Now they're online at
vax.freaknet.org 17023 / 17123. I'm keeping medialab here, and
'corazzini' for the pdp11 / other emulators. :)
< and I add: I doubt anyone cares about portability to VMS any more.
< autoconf scripts for EMAS or UNIVAC, anyone?
