I live in a very old "condominium apartment complex" instead of a house.
Getting that fiber optic cable to my home may need some construction
work that cannot be done in a short time and requires ISP technician
assessment. ISPs do not hire enough technicians and the wait time is
usually 1-3 months long. This does not count in the time needed to get
the approval to change ISP from the home owner association. Apparently I
need an approval for that because "the fiber optic line goes through the
public space". The current pre-approved ISP does not offer static IP.

When I rented an apartment, I needed my landlord's approval, even though
the landlord was cool with my 10G line, I still had to wait for 2 months
for ISP's technician to come. That was fast compared to the average.

I wonder if it is faster if I lay down the fiber optic cable myself all
the way to ISP's datacenter.

Cheers,
