Hi,

I asked the cfarm admin team if it would be possible to install
Podman[1] on all boxes where it is supported. They requested that I open
a discussion on the users mailing list first, and address some open
questions.

Podman would make it much easier to quickly set up and destroy build
environments. In particular, it would allow testing against different
Linux distributions and releases, and would lift the requirement to
request system-wide dependency installation by an admin.

It also has some advantages over other container runtimes:
* no daemon required
* unprivileged/rootless by default
* containers and images are stored in each user's home directory

What are your thoughts on this?
Would this be an useful addition?

Regards,
Gregor
