I still don't understand.

https://gcc.gnu.org/wiki/CompileFarm says:

"Gcc76 contains over 10 virtual machines, listed in /etc/hosts.
/scratch is an NFS mount shared between them."

but

$ cat /etc/hosts
127.0.0.1       localhost
194.254.15.241  gcc76.insa-rouen.fr     gcc76

# The following lines are desirable for IPv6 capable hosts
::1     localhost ip6-localhost ip6-loopback
ff02::1 ip6-allnodes
ff02::2 ip6-allrouters

So, what does "listed in /etc/hosts" mean?
